The face of the Occupy movement. People are calling Dorli Rainey, former teacher; resident of Seattle, the Rosa Parks of the Occupy Movement.
Dorli Rainey was in a group of Seattle activists that were told by the police that they needed to move. When they didn’t, they were pepper sprayed. And all the talk recently has been how we should have sympathy on Dorli because she was being, “Rosa Parks like”… I listened to an interview that she was in today and she talked about how its okay for the Occupy protesters to block road ways, do what they want, etc. and not feel bad for the other people (non-protestors) trying to get to work, go home, etc. “BECAUSE THEY’RE CONTRIBUTING TO THE PROBLEM.” What the…?!?!?
I’ve held out on sharing my opinion about the Occupy movement… because simply, I haven’t really cared. But lately, it has been annoying me. I’ve heard so many stories about protestors doing stupid things - taking craps in the middle of the road, inconveniencing innocent people, saying outlandish things, excusing themselves from being considerate and all other things that are just outright selfish. I don’t think it’s okay. I think if you want to protest something - do it in a manner that people are going to want to give the time of the day to. The things most, NOT ALL, these protestors are doing are just straight outlandish. Crazy stuff. Anyway.. I’ve got a lot more thoughts of this topic but too much to put on here.
What are your thoughts?
